PROFILE OF EMMANUEL TAWIAH ADOTEY
From the bustling streets of Jamestown in Accra emerged a man whose life would become a living testimony of grace, resilience, and faith, Emmanuel Tawiah Adotey.
Born on October 21st, 1955, into a family deeply rooted in Ga tradition and Christian devotion, Emmanuel’s early life was shaped by discipline, love, and service. His father, Samuel Kpakpo Adotey, a land surveyor, and his mother, Bernice Afua Adotey, a woman of prayer and strength, nurtured him in faith and humility.
He attended St. Michael and All Angels Anglican School, Mamprobi Sempe Middle School, and the SNAPS College of Accountancy; institutions that laid the foundation for his future in ministry. As president of the Scripture Union, young Emmanuel’s passion for the Word of God became evident.
A divine call soon led him into full-time ministry. Under the mentorship of Rev. Flt. Lt. Daniel Yamoah and Rev. Harry B. Adjei, he joined missionary works in Ghana and Nigeria, sharing the gospel through crusades, healing meetings, and evangelistic outreaches. His time with the Free Gospel Evangelistic Association (FREGEA) shaped his faith, leadership, and compassion for souls.
At The Church of Pentecost, Elder Adotey became known as a man of vision and service — leading, teaching, and inspiring countless lives. Through the Pearly Gates Music Ministry, which he founded, he used music as a vessel of healing, worship, and spiritual revival. He served in many roles, including Witness Leadership, which led to the opening of two Assemblies, IBE (New Mamprobi District) and Dansomam 3 now Exhibition Assembly in Sahara District. He served two times as the Presiding Elder of Gbegbeyisei Central Assembly and the longest serving district secretary for 19 years, a role he held until 2024. Many of those he mentored are now pastors, church leaders, and missionaries within The Church of Pentecost.
Beyond the pulpit, Rev. Adotey served professionally with distinction for 36 years at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), from 1990 until his retirement in 2016. A skilled writer and communicator, he was admired for his editorial precision, leadership, and humility. His colleagues fondly remember him as a mentor, a bridge-builder, and a man who brought faith into the workplace.
Through trials and triumphs, he has remained steadfast as a husband, father, mentor, and servant of God. Married to Mrs. Hilda Akosua Adotey, and blessed with four children, Priscilla, Prince, Monica, and Lois-Lisa. His family stands as a reflection of the same grace and love that define his life.
Rev. Adotey, as he is affectionately called in the football circles, is also a sports lover. He served as Chairman of Power FC, also known as “Soccer Engineers,” the football club of ECG, working closely with household names such as Ing. Ben Nyatefe, Mr. Saah, Robert Kempes Ofosu Ware, and many others. He later became Treasurer of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and was eventually elected Chairman of GHALCA, succeeding the legendary J.Y. Appiah. He collaborated with several club chairmen, including the esteemed Mr. Herbert Mensah, Mr. Harry Zakour, Mr. Tommy Okine (now Gbese Mantse), Alhaji Karim Grunza, and others. He concurrently served as a member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), allowing for broader engagement at the national level. Among other roles, he served as a Black Queens Management Committee Member and GFA Club Licensing Board Member.
His work with FREGEA, ECG, and football administration enabled him to travel extensively to countries including Germany, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Kenya, Gabon, Congo DR, Ethiopia, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Mali, Morocco, United Kingdom, Italy, India, Bahrain, South Africa, Brazil, Switzerland, Israel, Netherlands, Canada, Singapore, among others.
Today, Emmanuel T. Adotey continues to inspire many through his new book, “From Shadows to Light – My Life’s Journey of Challenges and Triumphs.” His story reminds us that no matter how dark life becomes, God’s light can still shine through and lead us to purpose.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Emmanuel T. Adotey is our dear author for this great book launch.
