Rev. Adotey: A Life of Service and Faith at ECG
Rev. Adotey’s professional journey at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) spanned an impressive 36 years, from 1990 until his retirement in 2016. But for him, ECG was more than a workplace—it was a divine assignment. He believed deeply that his career was one of the platforms God had given him to share His love and light, and he embraced this calling with unwavering dedication.
Throughout his tenure, Rev. Adotey exemplified integrity, humility, and excellence. A skilled writer and communicator, he was admired for his editorial precision and thoughtful leadership. His colleagues fondly remember him not only as a mentor and bridge-builder but also as a man who brought faith into the workplace. His influence extended beyond professional duties, touching lives through compassion, encouragement, and spiritual guidance.
Rev. Adotey was intentional about living out his faith in action. He helped establish a workplace fellowship and played a key role in organizing staff canteen ministrations—initiatives that became cherished avenues for prayer, worship, and fellowship among ECG staff. These gatherings fostered a sense of community and spiritual upliftment, and many colleagues witnessed God move in their lives through these moments.
His leadership and evangelistic background also led him to serve as a leader of the workers’ union, where he continued to inspire and support his peers. One defining moment came when he selflessly sponsored a friend’s journey to the Idahosa Bible School in Nigeria, covering airfare, accommodation, and living expenses. Just two days later, he was unexpectedly selected by ECG Management for a prestigious capacity-building course in Financial Projection at Acres International in Canada—a powerful testament to the principle of sowing and reaping, and to God’s faithfulness.
Rev. Adotey’s time at ECG was deeply shaped by the support of the late Reverend Harry Bandah Adjei, whose role in securing his employment remains a lasting blessing. He paid heartfelt tribute to Rev. Adjei and his wife, Margaret, whose legacy of faith and service continues to inspire. Their impact, along with the grace of God, helped position Rev. Adotey for a life of greater purpose.
In every role and responsibility, Rev. Adotey saw ECG not just as a place of employment, but as part of God’s divine design. His story is a powerful reminder that professional excellence and spiritual mission can walk hand in hand. To God be all the glory.
